Wood creations by Steve Palmer

I have worked with wood throughout my adult life. My attempts to design and build finer pieces began in 2002. I have since created a range of turned pieces, jewelry boxes, and furniture that combine material elements, contrasting woods, and the finest of joinery.

Wood creations by Steve PalmerI am a degreed Mechanical Engineer and I have spent a thirty year career designing and building an array of products from medical devices to printing presses. I try to incorporate the techniques used in the building of precision equipment into the execution of my wood pieces. I endeavor to balance sharp fit and flowing lines with a goal of achieving a look of elegance in something made to heirloom quality standards.

The first public showing of my work was at the 2009 Best of Missouri Hands annual conference. The pieces shown were from my collection of work amassed over the last seven years. I offer pictures of some of these pieces as examples of my work.
