As I grew up in the large city, there was a feeling of being lost, or emptiness in my heart. There was no staring star that captured my gaze upon a night sky. No old-growth forest presence to give comfort to those who seek a sweet smell of air. A paved city park offered no glimpse of wildlife. I longed for nature since I was a young child.

I was born in Osaka, Japan. My interest in ceramics was introduced by my father who loved and appreciated pottery. Since I was young my father accompanied me to ceramics galleries and shops quite often. These experiences throughout my childhood built the foundation for aesthetics. The first time I had an opportunity to throw pottery was in the United States through college classes under the direction of Professor Robert Bede Clark at the University of Missouri, Columbia. At the time I was almost a sophomore student and focused on printmaking, but one ceramics class changed the direction of my future forever. I devoted myself in the studio and pursued the dream of becoming a ceramic artist, and received a Master of Fine Arts in ceramics in the year 2003.

My work is predominately porcelain and one-of-a-kind wheel-thrown pottery. I incorporate elements of wildlife and nature that coexist in harmony and peace into functional pots. Living in the small town of Rocheport, Missouri, nature has been a source of my inspiration and has given me an endless supply of imagination.

By using playful and unique functional pottery, I hope to enhance the dining experience, as well as create a pleasant atmosphere where you share special moments with friends and family.
