Pat does hand painted miniature pieces of china; jewelry, thimbles, ornaments and Keepsake boxes. As a child Pat always loved to draw, and while growing up her passion stayed with her throughout high school. Then in 1975, after raising a family, she had the opportunity to start china-painting lessons. Within six months her paintings turned from lowers to snow scenes. She was taught the traditional way of painting the design right on a piece of china. She would fire it in a kiln, then touch up the paint, fire it again, and continue doing this until she was satisfied with her work. Eventually she began embellishing her paintings using the same pen oil she used to sign her name. Then, one day she reversed the process and started drawing designs on her piece of china and then fired it as pen work. Next she added the painting, a light wash of color, firing it, and continued this until she was happy with the result. Her pieces take no less than three firings but may be up to ten or twelve firings, depending on the the size of piece she is working on and the drawing she has designed. Pat is a self-taught artist and paints what she enjoys. All of Pat's creations are hand painted and one of a kind original designs. She has since branched out to doing print work from her larger pieces. You will be amazed at how detailed her paintings are on these miniature pieces of china. Pat's China Art
