Juried Membership Policy
Juried Membership is open to Missouri residents. Acceptance as a Juried Member indicates that an artisan has developed his or her craft beyond mere competence of technique to a high standard of quality. The member also verifies that the work juried is her/his own and is originated and made by the artist.
Benefits & Responsibilities of Juried Membership:
-
Eligible to participate in a number of events planned specifically for juried members
-
Individual page on the BOMH website. Only one web page per member. If a member juries into a second category, that member will have only one web page with each of their juried categories shown from that page. Pages are managed by the artists, allowing artists to easily update information and images as desired.
-
Display The Best of Missouri Hands logo on the product line in which the artist is juried
-
Wear The Best of Missouri Hands Juried Member badge
-
Display The Best of Missouri Hands Juried Member banner
-
Part of MAA/BOMH's mission is education. We ask our juried members to participate in educational endeavors, both for the general public and for other members.
-
Juried status is medium-specific, members may apply for juried membership in more than one medium by jurying separately in each category. Acceptance in one category does not necessarily mean acceptance in another medium. Likewise, rejection in one category does not affect juried membership in another category.
-
Membership must remain current to retain Juried Member status and benefits of Juried Member status. If membership lapses, artists will be required to reapply for Juried Status.
About the Jury Process:
-
Applicants to the Juried Membership category must be current General Members in good standing. Applicants must be a General Member for 90 days before applying for Juried Membership. All work is judged on craftsmanship, design, originality, and overall presentation. Applicants to the Juried Membership category must be at least 18 years of age and residents of the state of Missouri.
-
Jury applications are reviewed twice a year. They must be submitted by January 15th or June 15th.

-
Payment of the $20 upcharge for general members seeking juried artist status, $25.00 for juried artists seeking juried studio status or $45 for general members seeking juried studio status must be paid at the time of application for the jury process, If juried status is not granted, the upcharge will be returned. -
Members may apply for either an individual juried membership or as a juried studio membership. A studio membership is defined as two or more artists collaborating and working on the same body of work. Studio memberships share one vote as MAA/BOMH members.

“I highly recommend the BOMH not only for new artists but seasoned veterans too. The educational opportunities coupled with the networking circle within the group and beyond are an invaluable asset in my eyes that I consider myself very fortunate to be a part of. I know that I have gained educationally, have acquired tools and relationships within the organization that have been instrumental in my success as a photographer.”
~Kim Carr, Photographer
“I cannot express my gratitude enough to Best of Missouri Hands for including Heartland Hospital’s Art for Your Room program as an outreach workshop at your recent conference. Art for Your Room will give patients the opportunity to personalize their hospital room as they are encouraged to choose from a variety of fine art works that will be kept on the art cart. Thank you so much for contributing to bringing a smile to a patient’s day.”
