Hello and welcome to my small world that is full of saw dust, wood, wood chips and hundreds of tools and of course, my faithful dog named Dakota. My name is Harold D. Engelke and I am a retired Quality Engineer from McDonnell Douglas Corporation. Much older and wiser now, I still use the techniques my grandfather taught to me when I was young, even though most of my tools are powered. He taught me how to use woodworking tools and in the process he instilled in me a deep love of what they could do. I started my woodworking business in the year of 2000 with the purpose of making artistic boxes. In the year 2001 I attended my first art show, where I was awarded an Award of Recognition. The process for making an artistic box is slow, tedious and extremely nerve wracking. I use a band saw and other tools to fashion my award winning art. After the project has been finished I love to feel the wood, to let my hands glide over the surface, knowing that I have made something that is pleasing and useful. At the art shows I attend, I love to see people that have purchased one of my treasures walk away with a smile on their face. My artistic boxes are as unique as they are beautiful, different as they are functional.
