Artist's Statement
“Clay makes me feel close to the earth. Using liquid slip, I cast, carve and paint with colored clay and glazes. I want viewers to feel the earth and it's colors.” — Juanita Herrell

I always liked mosaics — all the bright colors and shapes. I never liked the broken edges, so I developed a method that takes a lot of work, but in the end the technique is worth it.
