The Bent Tree Gallery John, Marcia, and Stacy Whitt have collaborated to form The John and Marcia reside in Bethany in northwest Missouri. In 1981 Marcia began her artistic journey when she learned basket making at a weekend workshop. Over the years the Whitts have sold wholesale and participated in art shows in the Midwest. The Whitts are teachers, too, and enjoy sharing their knowledge with students. Willow chair classes take place each month during the summer, and fiber art classes are offered as well. Bent Tree Gallery in Clarksville, Missouri. In a beautiful building in a small Mississippi River town north of St. Louis, they have combined their creative efforts to produce and offer rustic furniture and accents, baskets, wearable fiber art, and one-of-a-kind leather handbags and belts.
John followed her lead in 1982 when he began making bent willow furniture for their home. Stacy, the oldest of their four children, picked up the creative urge early, and after dabbling in several venues has found her niche in designing leather handbags and belts. She manages the gallery and with her designer’s touch makes it an exciting and fun place to shop for one-of-a-kind artwork.
Now, with few exceptions, they focus their energies on their gallery, making it a unique shopping experience for day-trippers, travelers, and those looking for that perfect item for their home or wardrobe. Custom work is increasingly in demand and is happily encouraged at The Bent Tree Gallery, whether it is a custom handbag or a special dining table.
